Drupal is continuing to enrich the functionalities of its digital platform for content management and social commerce thanks to Amazon’s intelligent vocal assistant Alexa, as another way of improving the customer experience for users.
In the wake of chatbots and augmented reality, Acquia Labs’ team decided to take a closer look at vocal assistance, as a major lever in the new economy to step up the quality of service delivery and to build customer loyalty. The team contributed to the Alexa integration module for Drupal 8.
Alexa answers verbal questions, reads podcasts and articles and delivers information such as weather forecasts, traffic announcements and the latest news.
Ready to be integrated into the Amazon Echo smart speaker or in other connected devices, Alexa delivers a new user experience by bringing the right information at the right time on the right channel, etc. through the spoken word.
In his blog, Dries Buytaert discusses the Ask GeorgiaGov service which allows citizens of the US state of Georgia to interact with local agencies via Amazon Echo. It is worth noting that the information provided over Amazon’s platform is supplied directly from the Drupal-based content management tool.
He has also uploaded a video showing how we will be cooking meals in times to come, thanks to the integration of the Alexa-loaded Drupal 8 & IoT technologies. So much so that we will be turning to the website of our favourite supermarket as our culinary coach.
